The impact of the soluble epoxide hydrolase cascade on periodontal tissues

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease with complex pathogenesis. Uncontrolled inflammation driven by the immune system in response to accumulation of oral biofilm that leads alveolar bone loss, bleeding, increased periodontal probing depth loss attachment connective tissues tooth, and ultimately, tooth loss. Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) an enzyme converts epoxy fatty acids (EpFAs) produced cytochrome P450 (CYP450) inactive diol. It has been shown EpFAs display important features counteract exaggerated process. Based upon this observation, inhibitors sEH have developed are being proposed as strategy regulate proinflammatory lipid mediator production chronicity inflammation. This mini review focuses on impact inhibition focusing mechanisms involved.
